Ham & Cheese Sandwich

This soft and bendable sandwich bread is perfect for school lunches, toasted cheese, panini's or with gluten-free cold cuts. It also makes wonderful french toast or can be enjoyed when simply toasted and buttered. Make sure to check out the other recipes made with our bread mix.

Toasted Ham and Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 1 bag MinusG Bread Mix
  • 1 c + 2 Tbsp heated water (110°F) 
  • 3 eggs or see egg sub*
  • ⅓ c oil
  • 1 Tbsp sugar or substitute
  • ½ tsp flax meal (optional)
  • butter
  • cheese
  • gluten-free ham

Directions

  1. New to our bread? For best results, see bread video.

  2.  Fold a 12" x 16" piece of parchment paper to fit a 9" x 4½" loaf pan. Heat water in microwave about 40 seconds, and set oven to 150° or to the lowest temp.

  3. Add mix, water, eggs, oil, sugar, and flax meal into a stand mixer bowl. Attach paddle and mix on low for 1 minute. Scrape sides and bottom of bowl. Increase speed and mix for 4 min. 

  4. Scoop dough into pan and form a crowned top. Brush top with oil. Set in warmed oven to rise until dough crowns 1½ - 2” above top of pan, about 15 min. Remove bread from oven. Increase oven temp to 350°. If omitting sugar, let rise 45 min. - 1 hr.

  5. Bake 75 minutes. Bread will rise during baking. Immediately remove loaf from pan and cool on a wire rack before slicing.

  6. Heat skillet over med high heat. Butter the outside of 2 slices of bread. Set the first slice butter side down into hot skillet. Add cheese, ham and top slice with butter side facing up. Bread will toasted over heat. When browned, flip and toast the other side. 
  7. Slice and serve!

Storage: Refrigerate remaining bread or freeze sliced bread after 3 days.
